It is fundamental to know that Revue-Thommen is the famous brand name (against Grovana that is relatively unknown). Unfortunately this brand has suffered like many others in the Swiss watch industry and, part of the MSR Holding, it went under liquidation in 2000.

In 2001 Grovana Uhrenfabrik AG took over the Revue-Thommen brand and new models were soon to be launched.

Swisslinktimepieces was UK first distributor for the Revue-Thommen brand, under the new management, back in 2002. Poor sales meant that the company was in financial difficulties and in Autumn of 2003, Swisslinktimepieces closed down.

A company named ESPAR, not in the watch industry at all, took over the brand for a few months after Swisslinktimepieces went out of business.

In autumn of 2004 a watch distributor named Swisslink Watch Corporation (no connections what so ever with the other Swisslink company) took over the distribution of the Revue-Thommen brand.

For the next two years Swisslink promoted the brand via some retail outlets and introduced the Grovana brand to the UK market. In fact the Grovana automatic diver watch known as 1571 was named Corel Reef by Swisslink. A popular product well known across Europe and also known as Submariner.

The departure of Revue-Thommen (Grovana) export manager in June 2006 ended the relationship between Swisslink and the Swiss group. Other factors also prompted the breakdown of all relationships.

For a long period of time sales to UK became negligible until one of the retailers, Daniela Besso, imported and distributed for a couple of seasons several timepieces. With the engagement of a new export manager at the Grovana office in autumn 2007, Daniela Besso also pulled away from any relationship with the Group.

It is somewhat unclear who is looking after the UK market at the moment but it is certain that there is no UK after sales service offered. Many warranty booklets carry the name of Espar and Swisslink Watch Corporation but neither of these companies have anything to do with Revue-Thommen or Grovana brands (therefore not responsible for after sale service).
